After 5 years of waiting, the magnificent hand-painted version Guan Yu is finally arriving at Myths & Legends Collection Riding into battle on one of the fastest horses
, the Red Hare, Guan Yu is majestically portrayed in vivid hand-painted colours! Now available for pre-order.
Guan Yu is a righteous and loyal warrior. He was a general serving under the warlord Liu Bei in the late Eastern Han dynasty. He played a significant role in the civil war that led to the collapse of the dynasty and the establishment of the state of Shu Han – founded by Liu Bei – in the Three Kingdoms period. Traditionally, he is portrayed as a red-faced warrior with a long lush beard , his eyes were like that of a phoenix’s, and his eyebrows resembled silkworms. He had a dignified aura and looked quite majestic. Guan Yu’s favoured weapon was a glaive named the Green Dragon Crescent Blade, and was said to weigh about 49.2 kg.
This master piece is designed by a well-known Japanese designer, Kimiya Masago, who is one of the best designers from Koei! Guan-yu is portrayed here riding into combat on top of the feared Red Hare – the fastest horse in the Three Kingdoms at the time. His armour is beautifully detailed with the dragon motif skillfully incorporated in the overall design. Guan-yu is pictured here to be calm and composed even as he rides into combat.
