Description
Over the years, many legendary books have been lost to stormy seas or dropped by careless hands into the ocean. This mermaid collects books from the ocean floor. She has always been interested in the stories of the land-dwelling world above her. She lets the imagination of authors take her to adventures in the world above, of a world she has read so much about but has never seen before.
This sculpture is of a pretty mermaid reading stories of Myths & Legends from long-lost legendary books from the surface. The artist has cleverly sculpted the mermaid as if she was underwater while reading the books by making her hair and tail seem as if floating gently in the ocean currents. Pages gently float from open books around her. Her expression is especially well done as she is clearly lost in thought, trying to imagine what life above is like.
