In Christianity, St. Raphael is the Archangel whose name means “Medicine of God” or “God’s Healing”. It is believed that he is one of the seven Archangels that stand before the throne of God chanting hymns of unending praise, and is one of the three angels mentioned by name in holy scripture.
A statue of St Raphael represents healing and great strength of spirit. Here, St Raphael is portrayed to be in a commanding pose, his eyes full of determination as he faces down the evils of the world. In his hand, he holds the sword of faith that protects the innocent from evil.
