Description
Ajax is a Greek mythological hero, the son of King Telamon and Periboea. He is portrayed as a towering figure and a warrior of great courage in Homer’s Iliad and in the Epic Cycle, a series of epic poems about the Trojan War. Ajax is most famous for his skills with the spear and shield which he both wields with great skill. While enemy blows rain fruitlessly off his shield, Ajax deftly uses his spear to disarm his opponents or slay them. Such was his skill that he was most often referred to as Ajax the Lion as engraved on the shield.
